An abstract carving of faces/masks in whalebone typical of the carver.
20 x 20 x 8 cm
Alex was born in Nueltin Lake region, at the Nunavut and Manitoba border. He was very involved in Northern politics from 1979-1993, and is also a trained pilot. Now a full-time carver, Alex works in bone and stone to create sinuous, abstracted forms of spirits and people. Multiple faces and sharp curves define Alex’s signature aesthetic style, in either bone or stone his carvings undulate and move, as empty space gives the impression of lightness to the work.
