Juliana Scherzer is a textile artist working out of Nova Scotia, Canada. Juliana works primarily inåÊfree-motion embroidery on water soluble fabric toåÊcreate 3DåÊstructures out of thread.åÊThese three-dimensional thread sculptures reflect drawing in both their creation and final form resulting inåÊa duality ofåÊthe flat and the 3D. This reflects the duality of the known and unknown places of textiles in our lives, a concept she seeks to explore through various subjects.
Using textiles Juliana seeks to exploreåÊvarious subjects andåÊconceptsåÊand to thenåÊshare these explorations through her work. Currently, Juliana'såÊmain interests lie in biology, the vein of her thesisåÊwork, and in history. JulianaåÊhopes to create work that engages the viewer in the same ways sheåÊis engaged with these topics while creating her work.
‰ÛÜPreviously,åÊJulianaåÊwas an Artist-in-ResidenceåÊat the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design.
