Richard Bedwash was Ojibway from Long Lac near Thunder Bay Ontario. He was born in Hillsport, Ontario and began painting in 1967. He had no formal art training but was influenced by Norval Morrisseau. Working in acrylic and lithography, he is known for his traditional, simplified-style paintings and prints of birds, fish and other animals of Ojibway legends and lore.
