Owl With Outspread Wings

Drawing inspiration from an intimate relationship with the animals of the Canadian Arctic, Inuit carvers immortalize them in stone. This sweet owl sculpture has a quizzical expression and outstretched wings!

Approximately 24 x 7 x 2 cm

Adamie Mathewsie (1991 -  ) learned how to carve from watching his accomplished father, Palaya Qiatsuq. Adamie shows considerable promise for a young artist. He prefers to carve animals, primarily bears and owls often on a smaller scale. Adamie is known for his dancing bears, his naturalistic carvings depict the joy and humour of the moment.
