Christie Gruppe is a potter living in Grand River watershed area. She fell in love with clay while attending Landscape Architecture school in Toronto. After taking a pottery class, she enrolled herself at Sheridan College the following semester to start a three year Diploma program in Ceramics at the School of Crafts and Design. One of only a handful of ceramics Diploma programs in the country, it provided a wealth of technical knowledge and hands on making under the tutelage of Bruce Cochrane and Winn Burke. Not yet done playing with clay at school, she headed off to Halifax to get my BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Immersed in all the school had to offer taking studio clay classes, as well as weaving, bookbinding, jewellery making and lots of art history.
