The New Life and Death of the Lotus

Sold out
$300.00

For this assignment, I was inspired by a wilted lotus leaf, and I loved its shape and curled edges as it wilted and sagged. So I wanted to imitate its shape to make a bowl. In addition, I plan to use the techniques of fold forming and organic tubing to make a lotus leaf in the form of a rolled up new shoot as a handle piece to create a contrasting element: new life (the handle) vs. death (the bowl). Since it was a plant theme, I wanted to try to leave traces of hammering to show the texture of the creature.
